What Porsche Activity Do You Miss the Most?

Porsche driving, Porsche socializing or other Porsche event do you miss the most with this era of self-isolation? Sara Porsche Dakarmen, of LA Dismantlers a leading Porsche parts supplier nationwide posed this question on her Facebook page and it got me to thinking: “What Porsche activity do I miss the most?”

I just received notice that the 2020 Porsche Parade in Palm Springs is being canceled. Not a surprise, but a disappointment. I use PCA for fun, socializing and exploring. This year was going to be my first year to attend Porsche Parade as I was nominated for Enthusiast of the Year. Traveling to Palm Springs from Asheville was not going to be a quick trip but it would provide a new and memorable experience no matter the outcome. I understand from the email that they still plan on providing the recognition rewards so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

In addition to PCA participation, I also run Air Brigade setting up driving tours, managing the web site and writing daily articles. The web side of Air Brigade with the writing of daily news articles continues on. I look forward to thinking of the latest topic in the Porsche world to I question, to research or just think about.

I enjoy the writing but a big piece of both Air Brigade and PCA is the driving with friends and the socializing before, during and after the drive.

I have driving groups like other people have golfing groups. I love studying maps and planning for a successful day so I organize and plan a monthly PCA Drive and Dine, a monthly Air Brigade drive and dine event for air-cooled Porsche owners and often a monthly power drive with a few other performance-minded Porsche drivers through the mountains.

Planning and organizing three drives a month in addition to creating, building and writing for AirBrigade.com fills a month that now has a vacuum in my day, week, and month. Linda and I speak via phone or Facetime with many of the same people that we share our driving and dining experiences with each week, but something is missing from sitting down across the table discussing the missed turn on the drive, the new part someone found for their air-cooled Porsche that adds to its authenticity or studying the latest Porsche that someone just acquired.

This article is titled “What Porsche activity do you miss the most?” that implies one activity but for me it is a lifestyle, not an activity. I miss driving, I miss socializing and I miss my Porsche lifestyle.
