Member Monday: Porsches Bringing Friends Together
Member Monday: This 1976 Ice Green Metallic Porsche 911S is owned by member Keith in Florida. Keith and I first met when I was racing a 1969 911TR housed at Klub Sports Racing and Keith was looking to move from the financial industry into the Porsche business. Keith wrenched on my car on race weekends and learned the air-cooled Porsche trade.
Keith and I had not seen each other for more than 10 years after I stopped racing and we both went in different directions until I was in Little Switzerland, NC to view the cars viewing in the Targa Carolina. While inspecting this unique color ice green 911 the owner Keith approached and we both realized that we were past friends from HSR racing. It turns out that Keith now brokers/sells air-cooled Porsches.
Keith signed his 1976 911S up on Air Brigade and we have connected since at various Porsche events, most recently at Werks Reunion Amelia Island where Keith was proudly sitting next to his Porsche 911S.
This 1976 Porsche 911S was originally purchased from Gardner Motors in Bernardstown, New Jersey. It was nicely optioned and finished in unique Ice Green Metallic. The PCA color site Rennbow rates the uniqueness of this color as two paint cans on a scale of five. I thought this color would rate higher as a unique color. It is striking.
In early 2009, the original 2.7-liter engine was replaced with a 3.2 liter from a 1987 Carrera. The original gearbox was retained. This 911S is set up for vintage rallies and tours.
