Luft Wasser Porsche Celebration Sells Out in 48 Hours
The Luft Wasser Porsche Club Celebration in Brevard, North Carolina sold out in 48 hours in just its third year of existence. New this year is using the event to support two local charities: The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County and the Cops 4 Kids Christmas Gift Program.
The name Luft Wasser is in recognition of the Porsche heritage of producing air- and water-cooled sports cars. Luft Wasser in German means Air Water.
The Appalachian Region of the Porsche Club of America hosts the Luft Wasser Porsche Club Celebration. Over 200 Porsches with their drivers and co-drivers are expected to descend on the City of Brevard, North Carolina on Saturday, April 25, 2020 to celebrate the Porsche brand with drives, a parade, sharing and displaying their cars with socializing, eating and shopping throughout Brevard. 20% of Porsches are air-cooled Porsches.
The day starts with mountain tours from six different locations throughout Western North Carolina, the upstate of South Carolina and Tennessee. They’ll all converge upon a Brevard, North Carolina staging point to form a parade into downtown Brevard for a Main Street takeover. The parade of cars comes into town at 10:45 a.m. and will be on display until 2:00 p.m.
A Luft Wasser Supercar After Party is new this year providing Luft Wasser participants with the opportunity to take a short drive on their way home to stop at the Old Bishop Place Farm in Cedar Mountain, North Carolina. The Farm is a 600-acre estate with a Picnic Pavilion and manicured grounds with lakes and sculptures throughout where it is expected that two dozen Supercars will be on display while the Creekside Crawfish Youth String Band will be performing their bluegrass tunes.
Supercars scheduled to show at the After Party include an Amelia Island winning 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB and a 1973 Ferrari Dino, several McLarens, modern Ferraris, a Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Mercedes SLS, several Audi R8’s and a Ford GT. Multiple Porsche Supercars will also be on display including GT3 RS’s, a GT2 RS and representing the a 1950’s Supercar, an original 1958 Porsche Speedster.
Luft Wasser was founded in 2018 with the goal of bringing 30 Porsche owners together for a drive to Brevard for lunch and sharing their Porsches. Word of the event quickly expanded it to 100 cars the first year with 166 cars in year two and now 200 Porsches in Year Three.
More importantly the event has now become a major fundraiser for local charities. This year funds will be used to support The Cindy Platt Boys and ‘Girls Club of Transylvania County and Cops 4 Kids.
Sponsors of the event that will provide additional support to these organizations include Porsche Asheville, Hagerty Insurance and K and M Porsche Certified Collision.
Porsche enthusiasts and car fans are welcome to visit the Porsche Club festivities in Brevard, North Carolina on Saturday April 25, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
