Will this Porsche 912 Set a New Record Sales Price?

This is one Porsche 912 that may blast through the $100,000 mark and set a new record for the top sale for a Porsche 912. The secret sauce that may drive this Porsche 912 to a dizzying price level is that it is a Rod Emory build that was done prior to his recent acclaim as a 356 Outlaw builder. His Porsche 356 Outlaws regularly command $500,000 plus so it is conceivable that this Porsche 912 build could be a $150,000 Porsche 912.

The previous high for a Porsche 912 was a 1967 Porsche 912 sold by prestigious auction company Gooding & Company in January 2017 for $114,400. RM Sotheby’s also had a $100,000 Porsche 912 sale at a September 2019 auction. These are outliers though as the Sports Car Market Price Guide notes the median sale price for a Porsche 912 is $51,500.

This 1968 Porsche 912 is listed as an Emory Race Car Build on Bring a Trailer and is being sold by dealer Fantasy Junction out of California. Originally built for the track in 2002 where it saw several races. The current owner had a 1.7-liter engine installed for the street where it is registered as street legal in California. Complete documentation of the build by Emory is included. The car has been featured in Excellence magazine and is sure to be desirable and a head-turner at every Porsche event.

Previous Emory 356 Outlaw builds that had documented public sales each sold for $500,000. However, Rod Emory’s 1961 356B racecar only sold for $93,000. It did not feature the Emory specials of the outlaw builds and was a track only car so it had some limiting factors to commanding the high prices that Rod Emory builds now bring.

Emory Outlaw Badge | Bring a Trailer

This Emory Porsche 912 is a unique street legal build and comes complete with a coveted Emory Outlaw grille badge that brings a certain amount of cache to the car and the owner. The market is sure to value this offering as an Emory Outlaw Build though on the non-traditional Emory platform of a 912 as opposed to a 356 platform.

Air Brigade always provides a forecast for the final sale price and in this case, it is estimated that this Emory Porsche 912 will sell for $160,000 -$175,000.

Let’s watch. The auction closes on May 25, 2020 and Air Brigade will be there to see how it ends.
